Installing Limpido

A few quick steps after downloading — including the security prompts you may run into.

Windows

.msi installer

    Double-click the downloaded .msi file.

  2. 2

    If a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen appears, click More info → Run anyway. (Limpido is signed but not yet EV-reputation-rated, so SmartScreen flags it as a new publisher.)

    Follow the installer — Limpido opens automatically when it finishes.

Windows 11 already includes the required WebView2 runtime. On Windows 10 the installer fetches it automatically if missing.

Linux — AppImage

.AppImage (portable, no system install)

    Move the download to a permanent folder (recommended) and rename it:

    mkdir -p ~/Applications && mv ~/Downloads/Limpido_*.AppImage ~/Applications/Limpido.AppImage

    Make it executable — in a terminal, or via right-click → Properties → Permissions → “Allow executing file as program”:

    chmod +x ~/Applications/Limpido.AppImage

    Run it (double-click in the file manager, or from a terminal). On first launch you can accept the prompt to add a menu shortcut:

    ~/Applications/Limpido.AppImage

Needs WebKitGTK 4.1+ (libwebkit2gtk-4.1). On Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0. Updates can replace the same file in ~/Applications.

Linux — Debian / Ubuntu

    Download the .deb button above (not the AppImage), then open a terminal in the folder that contains the file.

    Install with apt (resolves dependencies automatically):

    sudo apt install ./Limpido_*.deb

    Or open the .deb with your software-installer GUI and click Install. Then launch “Limpido” from the application menu.

The .deb depends on libmpv2 for the native player; apt pulls it in for you. Uninstall later with: sudo apt remove limpido

Android phone & tablet

    Allow your browser or file manager to install apps: Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps.

    Open the downloaded .apk and tap Install.

The APK does not update itself: download new versions from this page. When Limpido Lite reaches Google Play, uninstall the phone APK before installing it from the store. Android 8.0+ (API 26) required.

Android TV & Fire TV

    Install the free “Downloader” app (by AFTVnews) from the Amazon Appstore on Fire TV, or from Google Play on Android TV.

    Open Downloader, select the address box on its Home screen, then type this code and confirm:

    When the download ends, choose Install. The first time, the TV asks you to let Downloader install unknown apps: allow it, then confirm the install.

The code and limpido.app/tvn open the same file, always the latest native TV build. The app does not update itself: to update, enter the code again.

Built-in IPTV player

Every installer ships with the full IPTV stack. Import an M3U URL, an M3U file, or an Xtream Codes account and start watching — EPG guide, catch-up TV, multi-view 2×2, picture-in-picture, stream health badges, audio + subtitle track selection, series drill-down. No additional download, no extra plugin.

Verified downloads

Every release is dual-signed with Ed25519 + ML-DSA-65 (FIPS 204). The installer verifies the hybrid signature before applying the update. SHA3-256 digests are published alongside every release for independent verification.

Windows

Windows 10 version 1803 or later (x86_64 or ARM64). WebView2 runtime (pre-installed on Windows 11).

Linux

Any distribution with WebKitGTK 4.1+ and glibc 2.31+. Tested on Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora 38+, Arch.

macOS

Not released yet. Will require macOS 12+ (Monterey); Apple Silicon and Intel both supported.

Android phone & tablet

Android 8.0+ (API 26). Limpido Lite — the IPTV player for your own playlists, without the web-video section. Coming to Google Play: if you install it from Google Play later, uninstall this APK first.

Android TV

Android TV 8.0+ (API 26) — Chromecast with Google TV, Sony Bravia, Xiaomi Mi Box, Fire TV. A separate build with a native ten-foot interface, installed alongside the phone one. APK sideload; on a television, type the Downloader code 4209518 or the short address limpido.app/tvn: both are quick to enter with a remote.
